Custom Meditation Painting

Sacred objects created with intention for calling in desires and transformation.

What is Sacred? To me it’s anything we bring our attention to with loving awareness. I believe the art we choose is a relationship, and when we relate consciously, potent transformation occurs. My intention is to create a piece for you that will serve as a physical representation, reminder, and sacred object, to imbue your space, and psyche, with the energy you want magnified. Your piece may be up for a season, many years, or a lifetime. For a specific room, or an ever rotating altar.

This is a co-creative process. We’ll begin with a one on one session similar to The Opening - this will be part meditation, intuitive reading, and conversation. We’ll talk about your core intentions and desires, and what energy, contemplations, and actions may support their expression in the material. We’ll also discuss logistics like preferred color palette and framing options. After we meet, I begin the material creation of the piece. This step is best described as a distillation process - it culminates in the mantra to work with in the meditative dashes.

It will be completely unique to you, and becomes the title of the piece.

The art we choose is a relationship, it’s moveable, changeable, and has an energy and impact all it’s own.

After we sit, you will receive a follow up email with notes from our session. Upon completion you will be sent a letter with a personalized mantra or blessing, and your Custom Meditation Painting.

Please set aside 60 min for our time together.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I know when to request a Custom Meditation Painting?

Custom Meditations can be used as talismans or sacred objects to honor important moments or intentions, this can include just about anything, some examples are:

Birthdays - Anniversaries - The passing of a loved one - Moments of Transition - Call in a desire - Moments of uncertainty - Release Fear - Transmute difficult emotions - Gift someone you love with a blessing - To incorporate into (or develop) a daily ritual or practice - When you want change and are unsure where to start - Birth of a baby - Clarity around career or purpose - New beginnings - Love + Partnership

As with all art, there is sometimes an ineffable call toward an object. You might feel that, or simply want something beautiful for the sake of beauty. To me, there is power in all of these things.

How do I work with a Meditation Painting?

This is a relationship. Trust that where you want to put it is where it belongs. It can be hung in any room as decor, placed on an altar, or in your meditation space. You can also put it somewhere for a time, and change your mind. Some people use the mantra or affirmation actively - repeating it to themselves for a concentrated period of time, or use it as a contemplation (I think of this as a whisper that’s played in the background of your daily life, sometimes you consciously think about what it means for you, and other times you let it go quiet.). There is absolutely no wrong way to relate to your painting. I consider myself the initial conduit for the energy of the work, but ultimately, there’s always wisdom meant just for you, that you access through your own inner knowing.

Do I have to have a personal or consistent meditation practice, or “know how to meditate”?

I have a flexible definition of meditation, I think many times the concept of meditation is overcomplicated, and at worst frustrating and exclusionary, and there are ways beyond this, in Buddhist texts it’s said there is something like 84,000 different Dharma doors, so I’m not alone in believing it’s not a one size fits all practice. And while we’re here, I think it’s helpful to note meditation doesn’t belong to any one religion or group, you can believe in anything, or nothing at all, and still experience the benefits of embodiment and intention. So please, come as you are.

What people are saying.

Listen to Dan Harris and Lama Rod Owens discuss the meaning of one of my Meditation Paintings:

Allison so gently honed in on the deepest calling of my soul’s desire and purpose and the support I need in its continued journey on that path. The meditation painting is a beautiful fossilized moment in my personal journey. I hope one day to look at it like an artifact, a remembrance of how far I’ve come. For now, it acts as a memento, often visited when I need to remember my truth and my path.
