Bio

Allison Strickland is a transdisciplinary artist exploring the bridge between Spiritual receptivity and Material making, and how they are in constant, inseparable play. Her meditative abstract paintings are informed by contemplative practices, color psychology, mysticism, emotion, and indigenous wisdom.

Strickland is a self-taught painter. Born in Los Angeles, and raised in Seattle, she began her career in the Arts via theatre and dance. Performing in both classical and contemporary productions in Seattle and New York, with training in programming at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Theatre being communal in nature, she found balance in her independent painting practice, and refuge in her study of Spirit, esoteric knowledge, astrology, and psychology. What started as separate paths spiral together in the integration of where spirit and matter meet. Her paintings continue the conversation of multi-dimensional mystic artists, traditional craftsmanship, and dharma art.

Her work is held in private collections across the US and Internationally.

She lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
